Our story
Zoe and I at the Royal Alcázar Gardens in Seville, Spain in 2023. Moments after this photo, I lost her in a crowd for five terrifying minutes. I then vowed I’d find a way for her to always remember how to reach me.
It all started when my daughter, Zoe, was about four. I had been trying to teach her my phone number, but no matter how many times we practiced, it just wouldn’t stick.
One day, as I listened to her singing along to a Disney movie — every lyric, perfectly memorized — it hit me: kids can memorize anything if it’s in song form.
I turned my phone number into a simple little tune. It worked wonders. She learned it in less than an hour, and three years later, she can still recite it perfectly.
This is awesome. Every family should have this, I thought. But how to give every family their own personalized song without it costing a fortune?
That’s when the next thought came: What if AI could do it? As a computer scientist — and someone who loves building things that make life better — I couldn’t resist trying. The very first prototype worked better than I imagined, and Safety Songs was born.
We’re now a small, independent team — all raising or having raised kids — working to make Safety Songs available to as many families as possible. We travel a lot and I worry that my child will get lost abroad. Can the song include a country code or name?
Absolutely! Just enter your phone number with the country code, and we’ll do the rest. You can even buy two songs, one with and one without the country code!
How long will it take for my child to learn the song?
It depends on many factors, including your child’s age, how easily they memorize lyrics in general, how much they like the song, etc. If it really clicks for them, it can even be less than an hour! But at worst, most children learn the song in a few days.
Can I use a Safety Song® commercially?
You can do anything you want with your Safety Song®, including selling it, giving it away, or using it for commercial purposes. That said, if you find a commercial use for it, we’re dying to know what it is, so we'd love to hear all about it! 😀
Are Safety Songs® AI-generated?
Yes, they are. This provides a host of benefits to you:
- Affordable price point. An equivalent song created by humans would cost hundreds or thousands of dollars.
- Unlimited style variations. A song created by human artists would need to be a one-off, take it or leave it.
- Fast turnaround time: we can produce a song in minutes, not days.
However, the fact that Safety Songs® are AI generated doesn’t mean they are generic. That's like saying that because every program can be written using a programming language, everyone who can program can write Google. A lot of work and research has gone into how a Safety Song® should be structured for maximum effectiveness and memorability, drawing on research and expertise from both cognitive psychology and music theory.
How do I get my money back if this doesn’t work for us?
